Opinions and Perspectives

After my initial thoughts of writing something and having written something about ‘writing’, then came other day where my fingers were on ASDF JKL; eager to flow-in the thoughts running in my mind into the brain of laptop, but this damn thought process in me was still in pursuit of ideas going at tortoise phase leaving the fingers jobless, which were just bracing over keys without hitting anything, then I started leaning back on the chair till the head rested back, next reflex which followed was my eyes were closing, hands were moving away from keyboard and eight of the ten fingers were gently caressing the sides of forehead, with outer edge of thumbs resting on cheeks just in from of ears, probably they were hoping that would accelerate the condition, Looks like they were right, something just stroke and disappeared that left eyes wide open, some sensible meme which made me read it multiple times gradually faded in and out till it stood still, although the source of it was vaguely visible, the content was crystal clear, It was about Opinions and Perspectives, let me share my views( sorry!! Opinion J ) about it today... Finally fingers got some job J
All these years having come across many shades which are part of our life including likes, dislikes, laughter, tears, love, arguments, surprises, disappointments, compromises, madness, etc, and few unanswered queries covering - Why me? Why not this way? Why did I fight with him? What made her move away from me? And few times we wish the time to start flying backwards and get an opportunity to rectify few things – a wish that might never be granted, and the list continues which will be way different for each of us, only thing that is constant with all of us is the variable – opinion which varies daily and is usually governed by the perspective we get to see everyday.

Well, here is the meme which gave me a topic to crib today:
Which side of the mug has the handle?

Batman: It’s on the left bro!!
Superman: It’s on the right buddy.
Batman: No!! I can see it clearly Superman, It’s on the left
Superman: What are you talking dude, do you think am lying?
...
 ...

This was one fascinating piece of explanation I came across in recent times, which accurately depicted how strangely our opinions can differ based on our perspectives, So Who’s right and who’s wrong in above conversation? Batman or Superman? Just by looking at the picture, we tend to take the batman’s side and think this superman is no more super, But the fact is, If they are sitting on opposite sides of a table facing each other, none of them may be wrong, Superman would continuously argue with Batman unless he comes over the other side and takes a look at the mug and says “Oh yeah!! Sorry bro, I didn’t look at the mug from your angle”, the same with us too?

Just as an example, for some, Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest cricketer of all time because of his master class strokes, for some Virat Kohli because of his consistency at young age, for some its Dhoni because of different reason, and for some it’s not a valid comparison to begin with, for some cricket isn’t a sports at all, and for some “who is Sachin Tendulkar?” and some makes an issue for not knowing Sachin, and some argue what is wrong in not knowing him. So this circle of opinions about little master can grow endlessly, Is anyone wrong here? again its upto individuals, I believe each one of them formed their own opinion about the topic by the perspective they got to see or hear, The point I am trying to make here is, we would have walked hundreds, possibly thousands of miles in life, with friends and family, seen each thing, each incident from the vision it allowed us to see it, understood it the way we learn it, saved memories as we saw them, formed opinion about someone or something based on what others told, as we may think other peson had right perspective, there is nothing wrong about it, we are slaves of our own master and we just listen to our master, we generate opinions based on our perspective,
Did we not encounter the similar situation in our life as the mug drama between Batman and Superman? How often we fight with our dear ones with a strong belief that we are right? happens quiet easily?, Every time we miss the simplest step to put ourselves into other person’s shoes and have a look at it even though other person may be wrong or right, we never know what hardships others have faced, what battles others are fighting, and what perspectives they got to form their opinion. Though our master doesn’t allow us to do so, we will have to try to come out, if at all we don’t want to have the unanswered queries. Oh Yeah, Me? I am still a beginner, who just started to understand the world; I will put my best efforts to broaden my perspective J

There is a good kannada movie named Ulidavaru Kandante directed by Rakshit Shetty, which revolves around an incident in which each character narrates the story in their own perspectives. good to watch.

P.S: All the words written above are purely from my opinion which were generated from my own perspective, if something isn’t right in your opinion, please allow me step into your shoes and see it J

Something to start with

Well, I had this plan to write something for long time, one beautiful Sunday afternoon I was almost certain - something should be done for this long desire which was haunting me over last few years, But most important question I had was: What to Write? While I started to scratch my head to find a topic, another thought just flashed, First of all Why should I write?  Instead of getting an answer for ‘what’, it started getting tougher for me to find the answer for ‘Why’ part, I really had no clue why I wanted to write something, but the feeling to do so wasn’t getting away from me,

As software professionals if we have no clue about something, first thing that strikes our mind is Google!!! Oh dear Google, You probably don’t know how many lives you have saved till today, Yeah like small kid who obeys mom’s order I just followed what mind was thinking, opened my laptop, clicked on the concentric circle with blue circle in middle surrounded by another with one third of read, greed and yellow each on my screen, bear with me there - that was a stupid explanation for Google chrome web browser logo, and straight away typed in ‘why do people write...’ answers started popping out without even letting me to complete as if there is no tomorrow.

Here are few of them
·         It’s a career? – Sure shot NO.
·         It’s a hobby? – may be
·         It’s a way to sort out the feelings? I have few close friends with whom my life was a open book.
·         Nothing in world makes me happier? – let me think about it, ahem – NO
·         Make a name? – Ha ha, I am too many light years away from it.
·         Write to change the world? – oops, too scary words, it does makes sense though but I was not in that path at least
·         Beliefs I need to share? Oh sounds interesting, first I thought its same as point #3, but felt they are different.
·         Write to connect with people with whom I never had contact otherwise? – yeah this one I tend to do a lot, add to bucket
·         It enables to find myself? Seriously? This one too? I though only travelling or facing a tough time would help, anyway +1 probably writing is very tough thing as well.
·         My girlfriend likes me write? Oh No, Someone help me please, But hold on, just got another topic to write, that would be one of my next topics.
·         It stops me from getting bored? May be, +1
·         Have lot of free time? Free time – as per my definition we can make ourselves free for anything if we really want to, it applies to as simple thing as calling friends and family instead of saying I am busy. So free time is something we should make instead of having it.
·         I enjoy writing? I was not quite sure about this, do I enjoy writing? Well let me see how it turns out.

While the list was getting endless, I halted there, did I find my answer? The nearest I could align myself within the list was - Beliefs i need to share, If possible find another myself, and start enjoy writing. These are all sounded true, but, on top of all of these I ended up with altogether a different answer, why should I write? In few words: “I should write because I have this long lasting desire to write” Initially I was little skeptical about it and I was resistant to accept it, but I felt it was actually true, yeah fulfilling something that our soul desires, should be a good enough reason to do it, not just writing - be it anything, Something is haunting us? Wake up and stand for it. that's what keeps us alive in true sense, chase the dreams and attain a feeling of accomplishment,

OK, Now what to write? Never imagined i would write something about ‘writing’. It just begins here, with the tiny vocabulary I have. Oh wait, not here really, few years ago I had written a post in my blog:
http://bhadra7.blogspot.com/2013/11/does-it-job-takes-our-freedom-off.html it was almost three and half years ago. I was just curious to put on my views after reading something on a website at that time.

While writing seem to be a skilled art, I am just a naive who wants to do something just because I have a desire to do, though I have cribbed whatever sense or nonsense I was thinking today, truly speaking I don’t even know what would be the title for this post, just named it as Something to start with, I am hoping to write something with an agenda, needed a beginning and possibly this might be a chance. As I always wish to travel, go to new places, meet new people and make friends with them I have lot travel stories, probably I will start there, or write some logical opinion which may sound totally illogical to others, a review on something, or just like today as found this writing itself can be a topic to begin with, I may find something interesting. But a spark has been ignited; I have to check if I can fuel it time to time to keep it on.

Somewhere I have read this: “Before we write something we have to read a lot” that absolutely seems true to me, it improves our vocabulary and way we see things, damn!!!! What am I doing then? Just finished a famous Kannada book “Chidambara Rahasya” written by K.P. Poornachandra Tejaswi, time to pick new one.

Does 'IT' job takes our Freedom off?

Does IT industry takes our Freedom off? Really?

Well to begin with, it started this way:
While Browsing through my mails, happened to notice an interesting question answered on some Question-Answer website/blog called Quora...
This was the Question:

How good is a salary of INR 16 lakh p.a. for a 21 year old?

And the best voted answer was:

“It takes the freedom out of an employee. I am pretty sure, that an employer who pays you 16 lpa is smart enough to take away all your freedom” and the answer continues..

And this was the explanation for the statement:
“ Point is, 21-30 is the time to explore, to travel round the world and do things you are really curious about, fall in love, start a revolution, and learn how to play the guitar maybe?”
Eventually, the guy left the job and he is working in science Institute, with 16kpm.

So how far is this true then?
After reading this answer, got a doubt in me what exactly Freedom means? Should it be redefined now just to understand the answer, or should we recollect what was taught in middle school?
This was what we learnt:
  1. The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.
  2. The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

Don’t we have the right to act, speak or think as we want? I am sure we do have it.
of course we cannot express/act/speak irrelevant things at certain times; we act according to the situation.
Eg: you cannot arrange a rock show at someone’s funeral.

Are we imprisoned or enslaved? Definitely not physically.
Mentally? Maybe it depends on how we approach it. If we feel yes, certainly there must be a boundary for imprisonment right? What is it constructed with?

Most of us would say “work load”. Ok let’s keep this for discussion.

So can’t the above things (the travel, the love, the revolution, the guitar blah blah blah) be done with an IT job with 16lpa salary with work load?

If a job that offers 16lpa doesn’t allow us to do those stuffs, the job with 16kpm also shouldn’t allow, in fact I would argue that no job in the world would allow all those stuff if an IT job doesn’t allow.

Because a job is a job and personnel life is personnel life, Even though both run parallel they are still apart, like parallel railway tracks, one without the other of no use and remember the fact that both can never converge together as well.

In my 1 year of IT experiance, I have seen guys who burn themselves at their desks, yet they were able to achieve above stuffs.

The travel – people been to great places in just one year.
The love – yeah, seen couples who made love, got married, and settled happily now
J
The revolution – yes, seen couple of guys who work immensely for public well being, and always ready to help in any cases, ready to gather statistics using RTI and the list continues, and their professional growth is Excellent.
The guitar – yes, I do have example for this. May be we can consider this as an hobby.

“Work load” was always there since I see them everyday.
Were they not able to break that “work load” boundary?
So how did they manage these stuffs with a high paid IT job in hand?

Yes, all that matters is “planning”
how well we organize the things,
how well we can manage both stuffs as separate entities taking them together.
I am not an expert at it though
J am a mere beginner at this.
If we have passion for something I believe we can make some 'time' for that to achieve.

I may not be 100% right. But pretty confident that work and life are separate things and balancing them is up to us. Let’s not mix them up and make things complex to handle.

A guy earns 16 lpa at the age of 21? Congrats man you are worthy of something. that's great at this age :)

Now tell me does IT job takes our Freedom off? Not really :)
